Local Area
The regency town of Sidmouth is on your doorstep. Walk to the top of the car park and turn right and within 50 metres, you are in town, with The Dairy on your right, famous for their award-winning Sidmouth Gin. There are lots of independent shops in town which are great for browsing! Sidmouth has a number of bars and restaurants, one of our favourites is The Swan (A proper pub!). Take a stroll along The Esplanade where you can enjoy the sea views and watch the world go by.
There are many things to do in Sidmouth and the surrounding area such as walking, horse riding, cycling, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. Chris is a keen shore fisherman so may have some helpful information. Chris is also a qualified shotgun coach.
With walking being very popular in the area, we have an OS map in the cottage for your reference. We are located just off the South West Coast Path. We have found many good walks of varying difficulty since we have been in the area. One favourite is walking the cliff to the west of Beer. Another is walking west out of Sidmouth up Peak Hill. It's a bit of a climb, but the views are worth it when you get to the top! If you don't fancy the climb up Peak Hill, there is a circular walk at the top around Mutters Moor.
For reference, there are a number of walks here.
Sidmouth also has many amenities, including an indoor swimming pool, cinema and a museum.
The popular Donkey Sanctuary is less than four miles away.
